The four imaams offered a great service in the field of fiqh and their heritage is great value to the ummah. The second of them:

Imaam Maalik bin Anas

He is Maalik bin Anas bin Maalik al-Asbahee. He was born in Madinah in 93H and died in 179H. From his most well-known teachers:

  • Abd al-Rahmaan bin Hurmuz (d. 117H)
  • Naafi' mawlaa of Ibn Umar (d. 117H)
  • Muhammad bin Shihaab al-Zuhree (d. 124H)
  • Yahyaa bin Sa'eed al-Ansaaree (d. 143H)
  • Rabee'ah bin Abee Abd al-Rahmaan (d. 136H)

From his most well-known students:

  • Abdullaah bin Wahb bin Muslim (d. 179H border=0>
  • Abd al-Rahmaan bin al-Qaasim (d. 191H)
  • Asad bin al-Furaat bin Sinaan (d. 213H)
  • Muhammad bin Deenaar (d. 182H)
  • Abd al-Azeez bin Abee Haazim
  • Uthmaan bin Eesaa bin Kinaanah
  • Abd al-Rahmaan bin Khaalid al-Iskandaree
